May 29. Quite a remarkable story by a surgeon of a patient who recognized her solely by her voice a year after operating on her. The surgeon had spoken to the patient during surgery not knowing if she was consciously aware of her presence.
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
May 30. Pink plastic flamingo lawn decorations do not do this amazing bird justice!!
And from the second meeting - Trauma: My son's grade 2 classmate was hit by a car and was in a coma for quite a period. The teacher of the school choir decided to visit her in the hospital. She began singing one of the songs the children had been practicing - and low and behold, the girl started to sing along with the teacher. It was the beginning of her recovery!
-- Vicki Horsfield, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370.
May 31. First rate!
-- Sharon Blaker, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
They told me to change my clothes. I changed the law instead. Gina Martin. The extraordinary determination of Gina Martin as she recounts her story of the struggles she had to endure in what should have been an easy task – to add “upskirting” to the Sexual Offence Act of 2003. She accomplished it, however, and learned the game of politics. Her work has led to many convictions of the worst of the worst pedophiles.
-- Michael Thomas, Rotary Club of Stony Plain, District 5370

For over three years we have been working on developing an Interceptor project in what we believe is the heaviest polluting river on our planet. The Rio Motagua basin in Guatemala suffers yearly trash tsunamis, devastating the environment. This specific problem required a specific solution, so we are trialing a new kind of Interceptor system: the Interceptor Trashfence. Our Guatemala project is still in an experimental stage, and we are not yet operational.

As I’ve grown older, I’ve learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.
I’m responsible for what I say, not what you understand.
Common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it the most never use it.
My tolerance for idiots is extremely low these days. I used to have some immunity built up, but obviously there's a new strain out there.
It’s not my age that bothers me; it’s the side effects.
As I watch this generation try and rewrite our history, I'm sure of one thing: It will be misspelled and have no punctuation.
As I’ve gotten older, people think I’ve become lazy. The truth is I’m just being more energy efficient.
I haven't gotten anything done today. I've been in the Produce Department trying to open this stupid plastic bag.
My mind is like an Internet browser. At least 19 open tabs, 3 of them are frozen, and I have no clue where the music is coming from.
Hard to believe I once had a phone attached to a wall, and when it rang, I picked it up without knowing who was calling.
She says I keep pushing her buttons. If that were true, I would have found mute by now.
There is no such thing as a grouchy old person. The truth is that once you get old, you stop being polite and start being honest.'
