Too quick to judge. It is very true to come up with your own conclusion of a person when the person does not respond. I have learned, if I sit with a stranger, I will try to make sure I get eye contact and exchange a smile.

Rotary's theme for January is
Vocational Service
The Object of Rotary is a philosophical statement of Rotary’s purpose and the responsibilities of Rotarians. The concept of vocational service is rooted in the second object, whgich calls on Rotarians to encourage and foster:
• High ethical standards in business and professions
• The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations
• The dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society
As a Rotarian, how can you put these ideals into action? Consider these suggestions:
• Talk about your profession in your club, and take time to learn about fellow members’ occupations
• Use your skills and expertise to serve a community
• Practice your profession with integrity, and inspire others to behave ethically through your words and actions
• Help young people achieve their career goals
• Guide and encourage others in their professional development

By including men and women from diverse professions and backgrounds, Rotary recognizes the importance of all skills and occupations. A vibrant Rotary club reflects the businesses, organizations, and professions in its community, embracing diversity in experiences and perspectives.
Your professional life and vocational service go together. Rotarians have a dual responsibility: to represent their occupations within their club and to exemplify the ideals of Rotary in their places of work.

Letters Live
In 1864, Jourdon Anderson and his wife escaped a life of slavery and moved to Ohio. A year later, he received a desperate letter from the man who used to own him, in which he was asked to return to work on his now ailing plantation.
Jourdon's magnificent reply, performed here by none other than Laurence Fishburne at Letters Live at The Town Hall in New York back in 2018, was dictated by Jourdon and reprinted in numerous newspapers.
Jourdon Anderson never returned to Big Spring, Tennessee. He passed away in 1907, aged 81, and is buried alongside his wife and eleven children.

THIS WEEK - Now and Then
Now and Then's eventful journey to fruition took place over five decades and is the product of conversations and collaborations between the four Beatles that go on to this day. The long- mythologised John Lennon demo was first worked on in February 1995 by Paul, George, and Ringo as part of The Beatles Anthology project, but it remained unfinished, partly because of the impossible technological challenges involved in working with the vocal John had recorded on tape in the 1970s.
For years it looked like the song could never be completed. But in 2022 there was a stroke of serendipity. A software system developed by Peter Jackson and his team, used throughout the production of the documentary series Get Back, finally opened the way for the uncoupling of John’s vocal from his piano part. As a result, the original recording could be brought to life and worked on anew with contributions from all four Beatles.
This remarkable story of musical archaeology reflects The Beatles’ endless creative curiosity and shared fascination with technology. It marks the completion of the last recording that John, Paul and George and Ringo will get to make together and celebrates the legacy of the foremost and most influential band in popular music history.
