Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

Malala's inspiring message of hope and the challenge she provided to help all, young women in particular, realize the dream of a better world.
-- Don Smith, RC of Bracebridge, Ontario, D-7010

The origins of pleasure
I enjoyed Paul Bloom's explanation of how pleasure and pain are perceived by us, in regards to its history. I can certainly relate to his wine example, as over the years I still can't justify purchasing an expensive bottle of wine for the sake of a label.
-- Laurence Reynolds, RC of Campbell River Lunch, D-5020

Explore new cultures and fresh perspectives by taking part in everything the convention has to offer, including pre-convention events like the Rotary Peace Symposium, unofficial affiliate events such as Rotarian Action Group gatherings, Rotary events including the Rotary Club Celebration Luncheon, and host-ticketed activities like a bike tour through Hamburg.

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

The story of the Sakura Trees reminded me of a book by Mark Sakamoto called Forgiveness.

Mark's maternal grandfather was a prisoner of war and was tortured by the Japanese during his incarceration. Mark's paternal grandparents were Japanese and were removed from their home at the coast to live out the war in a chicken coop in southern Alberta. Mark says his greatest gift was learning forgiveness from his grandparents.
-- Jeff MacFarlane, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

I really enjoyed the TED talk by Malala's Father.  I have shared it because I think everyone needs to be reminded to fight for the rights of others, not just their own.
-- Chantale Doucette –Chalifoux, RC of Swan City, Alberta, D-5370

Malala My Daughter
Hearing Malala's father speaking about her was very inspirational.  Ties in well with February's theme:  peace through education.

Special for me was seeing my good friend Jean-Michel recognized for his contribution to the Foundation.  Jean was a former member of my Rotary Club.  Please say hi to him from me and my wife Sue.
-- Ivan Docker, RC of Edmonton Strathcona, D-5370
