Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

Gratitude is what makes you pay it forward in life. Use gratitude as a spark to action.
-- Michael Thomas, RC of Stony Plain, Alberta, D-5370

End Polio Now; Jennifer Jones
Having previously served D5370 as the Polio Plus Chair, I found this program especially inspiring, and great to hear the message is being spread to a much wider audience. We are This Close! And getting closer every day!!
-- John Wojcicki, RC of Edmonton, D-5370

Enjoyed Jocelyne's greeting and Nova Scotia tour. Great to hear about Jeff MacFarlane's involvement in youth exchange, but most of all to hear the Rotary Anthem and reflect on the many logos Rotarians have been inspired by over the years.
-- Lynne Ternosky, Rotary Passport Club, D-6330

While the program on phage therapy was interesting, the presenter failed to give credit to the Russians and Georgians who have used this therapy since before World War II, and used it as the primary treatment of bacterial infection in their soldiers during that war, as they did not have access to antibiotics like penicillin.  They were well ahead of any Western doctors in perfecting this therapy, which should never have been left on the shelf for so long, especially by our North American health industry.

It is, most likely, a testament to the power of big Pharma that this natural method of killing bacterial infection has been suppressed in favour of the costly and ultimately dangerous use of expensive antibiotics (which also damage the important gut flora of those who take them).
-- Delwen Stander, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

News from our E-Club family!

Greetings from Sharon Blaker in Chilliwack, British Columbia!

Rotarian Sharon Blaker
I love the flexibility and weekly meetings of our e-Club.

However, as a member of the e-Club, I find I don’t have the same connection with our community as I did as a member of a terra Rotary Club.  So I sought out some volunteer opportunities!

In the photo at left, I am serving a hot meal to those in need (from 50 – 150+) on Sunday evenings.  This activity is hosted by a group of like-minded citizens through a Facebook page called S.P.A.R.K.S – Special People Acts of Random Kindness Shared.

We prepare and serve food, solicit donations of same from other individuals and stores, including monetary donations from service clubs. We also fundraise on a small scale.

There are other needs also. For instance, before Christmas, our family, including our 8-year-old granddaughter, gathered clothing and household items for a new family in town.

Enjoy your meeting!

Cadre of Technical Advisers

The Rotary Foundation Cadre of Technical Advisers is a group of volunteer Rotarians who provide technical expertise and advice to Rotarians planning and carrying out Rotary grant projects around the world.

Cadre members review, monitor, and evaluate projects and ensure grant funds are being used properly.  We are experts in technical sectors that correlate to each of Rotary’s six areas of focus. In addition, our team of auditors reviews project finances and grant management.

Program Donations

Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
