April is Autism Month
Alex Munro has autism spectrum disorder and wasn’t speaking at age three – but a program known as the Social ABCs helped him find his voice. Alex’s mom says the program has had an immensely positive effect on their lives.

Comments from our guests and members
Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?
Abeny Kucha. I
very recently had a conversation with a man from Minnesota who was complaining
that all these Muslim Somalians (maybe they were really Sudanese!) were a
problem. When I asked him why they were a problem, he replied, "Well, they
keep to themselves, and they cover their heads."
I asked again why
that was a problem. He said, "Well, when any group is different, it causes
problems." I asked him what was a problem. He said, "Well, I feel
offended." Then I finally understood what the the problem was! I wonder if
I could get him to watch this video.

E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
Ali Al
Abdullatif. Very interesting program!
Sad that prejudice can strike in the most innocuous situation. Ali should
know that he has more than 14 friends ready to help him – he has over One
Million Rotarians who can do likewise!!
-- John Wojcicki,
Rotary Club of Edmonton, District 5370
The Moth. Good example of the significance of
fellowship and support. Also watched "Dogoodary" -- another great
example of "young" and "old" working together on projects.
I like the format
as it is.
-- James Maxwell,
Rotary Club of West Ottawa, District 7040
Abeny Kucha: The First Cow. Abeny gave an account of her life in Africa
during the Sudan war and how she and her family were homeless for 8+ years.
They wandered from refugee camp to camp and to and from different African
countries. Finally, they arrived in the US where she could finally provide a
home, food, and education for her children. Her daughter was able to graduate
from law school.
-- Michael Thomas,
Rotary Club of Stony Plain, District 5370
Abeny Kucha. I have just returned from a trip which
included Africa, So Abeny's story was quite timely. It is interesting to hear
firsthand the story of a refugee or immigrant.
-- Graham Drake,
Rotary Club of Calgary Heritage Park, District 5360

Rotary minute
By Stephanie Herzfeld
On 27 March 2020, the World Health Organization’s South-East Asia Region recognizes six years of polio-free certification.
To be sure, this is an important benchmark as we progress toward a polio-free world, but as I look back on my first National Immunization Day trip to India, the country in the region once considered the most difficult to bring to zero cases, this date has now taken on a new personal significance.
Prior to the January NID trip—in which I accompanied members of the press—I felt I had a solid grasp on Rotary’s polio efforts and its leading role in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). As part of Rotary International’s public relations team, I’ve put together many, many reference documents highlighting key dates, strategies and figures that underscore our members’ commitment to the cause and prove that our collective efforts pay off.

Program Donations
Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.
Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.
We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.
As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
