Peter Lymburner Robertson (1879 - 1951)
Peter Lymburner Robertson was a Canadian inventor, industrialist, salesman, and philanthropist who popularized the square-socket drive for screws, often called the Robertson drive. (Wikipedia)
After cutting his hand when a flat-head screwdriver slipped off the screw head, Robertson invented the square-socket screw that bears his name. A commercial success in Canada, Robertson screws never really took off in the U.S., probably, in part, because Robertson refused to issue a licence to Henry Ford so Ford could use Robertson screws in his U.S. auto production lines.

Sylvia Fedoruk (1927-2012)
Sylvia Olga Fedoruk [Fe-doruk], OC SOM was a Canadian physicist, medical physicist, curler and the 17th Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. (Wikipedia)
This remarkable woman was best known for three things: being key to the development of the first Cobalt-60 unit, useful for medical imaging and treatment of some forms of cancer; being the 17th Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan; for being a champion curler!
It's also worth mentioning that she was the first woman to become a member of the Atomic Energy Control Board of Canada and the first female Chancellor of the University of Saskatchewan.

Comments from our guests and members
Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?
Awesome meeting!
Jason Trieu's presentation had me in tears. Love the young 15-year-old Autumn
Peltier advocating for clean water. I wonder why we are not all
advocating for this?
-- Sharon Blaker,
E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
Presentation on
Guatemala. Love the online platform –
creates a great deal of flexibility for members from other clubs to make up
meetings.
-- Carlo Monette,
Border City Rotary Club, District 5370
Creating
Opportunities for Guatemalans. I think that
a coordinated effort by a number of Rotary clubs would be an opportunity to
provide this organization with effective support than through the efforts of
one Rotary club at a time!
-- Patrick Maguire,
Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak, District 5020
Operation Baby
Lift. The gentle recount of personal
family trials in operation baby lift, and how important security is to many,
rings bells today with the uncertainties faced by us all in this time of
shutdown and personal distancing. I am so grateful for virtual friends and the
telephone in this time of solitude. Keep
up the good work.
-- Lynne Ternosky,
Rotary Club of D6330 Passport

“How does Interact affect Positive Peace?
That is the question we had to ask ourselves when we were selected to represent Interact at Rotary Peace Day on 21 September 2019. This annual event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen, British Columbia, Canada, and attended by community leaders, elders of Tsawwassen First Nations, Rotarians, members of Tsawwassen, and the greater Delta community.
When we thought about how we as Interact Club members could bring about Positive Peace, we thought about our desire to give back to the community, our drive to work with organizations that also promote peace, and our efforts to run our club in a way that builds harmony. We realized that there were many similarities between what is important to us and the eight pillars of Positive Peace.

Rotary minute
By Karla Patricia Ravida, President, Rotaract Club of Manila
Did you know that when you serve others, you stand to gain as well? This observation was noted by American religious leader and author Gordon Hinckley when he wrote “One of the great ironies of life is this – he or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served.”
For the past five years, I have been part of a Rotaract club and I can say I have had a lot of opportunities to live out that statement and grow as a young professional through serving others.
For the past five years, I have been part of a Rotaract club and I can say I have had a lot of opportunities to live out that statement and grow as a young professional through serving others.
Back in 2014, I was looking for a way to give back to my community, meet new people who shared my values, and find a better way to spend my weekends.
Work colleagues invited me to join the Rotaract Club of Manila, Philippines.
I began by attending dinners they would have for visiting Rotaractors from other countries. Then I attended seminars and talks on youth leadership and empowerment. I found myself wanting to learn more about helping my community and growing as a leader.

Program Donations
Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.
Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.
We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.
As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
