Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring, and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

August 29. The story about Henry Dunant showed him to be quite a remarkable man. From his meeting with Napoleon after witnessing the horrors of the aftermath of the Battle of Solferino, to being instrumental in creating the Red Cross and the YMCA and then going into poverty after being embroiled in a business scandal. And then at the age of 73 being awarded the first Nobel Peace prize.
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

September 3. AI – a blessing or should we be scared. Also, we can help climate change by investing responsibly by investing in portfolios that use the ESG concept. Environment, Social and Governance.
-- Neil Rogers, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

AVENUES OF SERVICE

Rotary's ideal of service is based on the Five Avenues of Service –

• Club
• Vocational
• Community
• International
• New Generations

These areas comprise Rotary International's philosophical cornerstone.

Rotary clubs carry out efforts along each avenue in support of the Object of Rotary.

AREAS OF FOCUS

The work of Rotary begins in the community, and every community has its own unique needs and concerns. While we serve in countless ways, we’ve focused our efforts in seven key areas to maximize our impact.

These areas encompass some of the world’s most critical and widespread humanitarian needs.

Rotary members planning new service projects are encouraged to consider these areas and the many opportunities for innovative projects within them.

Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation have adopted seven areas of focus as organizational priorities:

• Peace and conflict prevention/resolution

• Disease prevention and treatment

• Water and sanitation

• Maternal and child health

• Basic education and literacy

• Economic and community development

• The Environment

There are countless ways that Rotary clubs can address these issues both locally and internationally.

For ideas, consult the publication Rotary’s Areas of Focus Brochure (965en). It s available in a pdf format on rotary.org website.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
