August 5. A Brain Implant that turns your thoughts into Text (Tom Oxley). Stentrode is an implantable brain-computer interface that collects and wirelessly transmits information directly from the brain, without the need for open surgery. This is scary technology in my mind. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds in my lifetime.
-- Michael Thomas, Rotary Club of Stony Plain, D5370
August 5. TEDTalk speaker on brain implants – amazing!
-- Sharon Blaker, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 5. Brain waves to messages. Wow, what an amazing accomplishment in the field of neuroscience. P.S. Loved Harry Nilsson, Without You.
-- Steve Rae, Rotary Club of Stratford, District 6330
August 6. The brain implant explained on the TED talk is an incredible achievement and the ability for people with paralysis to be able to Tweet their thoughts must be amazing for the person.
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 8. Loved so much about this meeting, The Beach Guardian video, Eric Carmen, Al Gore, and an excellent reminder about Carbon Monoxide. I will get our HVAC people to make sure our detectors are still working.
-- Nance MacLeod, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 8. Czech and Slovak Rotary Members Open Aid Corridor into Ukraine highlighted the power of Rotary during a crisis. Proud to be a Rotarian!
-- Sharon Blaker, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 8. Al Gore. I can hardly bear to think about the world we are leaving to our kids and grandkids. As Al Gore says, we are not doing enough to stop the continued damage we are causing.
-- Vicki Horsfield, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 10. Great meeting!
-- Doug Dyer, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 11. Al Gore is a very passionate and powerful speaker!
-- Neil Rogers, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 11. Al Gore’s talk. This is my first E-meeting and I love the format! The main program was both scary and inspiring. Al Gore’s talk really pounded home why it is crucial that we as Rotarians make the environment a key area of our service now and in the future.
-- Jamie Pearson, Rotary Club of Campbell River, District 5020

Why this story? Because it's funny, it involves Osoyoos, and Elly and Ramiro will soon find Osoyoos only a memory as they move to Mexico. (Best wishes!)

Early in my career as a judge, I conducted hearings for those involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital. On my first day, I asked a man at the door of the hospital, “Can you tell me where the courtroom is?”
“Why?” he asked.
“I’m the judge.”
Pointing to the building, he whispered, “Don’t tell them that. They’ll never let you out.”
Any time the alarm goes off after hours at the municipal office where I work, the security company calls me at home, and I have to go back and reset it. Late at night, I got one of those calls. As I was getting ready to head out the door, my husband groggily said, “You’re not going down there by yourself at this hour.”
Just as I was thinking, how thoughtful of him, he added, “Better take the dog with you.”
Our friend, a lawyer, was defending a man accused of sending obscene literature through the mail. Deciding to base his case on whether the material really was obscene, he asked court officials if he could see a copy. So, they mailed it to him.
It was just another day at the DMV. I had taken a woman out on her driving test when a police cruiser came up behind us – sirens wailing, lights flashing.
“Was I speeding?” she asked the officer after both cars pulled over.
“No,” said the officer. “But you are driving a stolen vehicle.”
Smiling awkwardly, the woman turned to me. “Does this mean I failed my test?
