Comments from our guests and members
Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring, and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?
August 14. Al Gore. Mr. Gore makes a very fiery speech but he would be more believable if he got his facts straight. The residents of the town of Lytton do not appreciate hearing their town "has burnt down," there were many buildings destroyed but the town is rebuilding. His time might be better spent campaigning for an increase in electricity production as the U.S. is predicted to require a 27% increase in electric consumption to power all the electric cars that are forecast to be sold by 2035. -- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 15. John Hewko's address to the Convention was inspiring. As usual, the variety in our meeting was wonderful. Thanks! -- Sharon Blaker, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
August 15. John Hewko enlightened me to some of the newer facts about Rotary today and gives me hope of a better future for Rotary and the world. -- Larry Reynolds, Rotary Club of Campbell River Luncheon, District 5020
August 15. John Hewko. Good to see a note from Rotarian Fritz from here in Stratford, Ontario, who won the Foundation recognition. -- Lynne Ternosky, Rotary Club of D6330 Passport
August 20. John Hewko's talk was very inspirational. -- Neil Rogers, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Elise Josiane Dohogne
RECCO welcomes Elise
Dohogne to District 5370 (see below). She is being co-hosted by the
Drayton Valley RC and RECCO through the Youth Exchange program.
Drayton Valley Rotary Club is very happy to welcome Elise Dohogne into our club and community for the 2022/23 Exchange year. She comes from a rural area in Belgium, where she lives with her parents and older brother, close to the small town of Malmedy, population of 12,000.
She says it is rich with culture and tradition. She is supported by Rotary District 2160. Her school there has 479 students. Although French is her native language, she understands some German and is learning English. She enjoyed gymnastics and helped teach a younger group. She participated in the performing arts.
Prior to Canada, she enjoyed travel to France, Crete, Switzerland and Germany, for the Christmas markets. Her love of people and cultures was established very early. She is considering Psychology or Communication as a career, as she likes to understand and help people.
Elise’s goals for her exchange year are to learn English, gain experience in communicating with others, and take home many memories. She is very interested in the differences between her home country and Canadian daily living; the schools, houses, roads, and what people do on a weekend. She would also like to go to a big store like Costco.
Although in Drayton Valley only a short time, Elise is already working on her goals. She attended the orientation in Grand Prairie, meeting other students and building friendships.
She is very curious about Canada, its multicultural society, traditions and food. She had poutine in Montreal between flights and would enjoy it again.
Her “be first” energy already has her volunteering to help with events such as Truth & Reconciliation Day at our local Omniplex on September 30, and a Rotary Octoberfest fundraiser on October 29. Her cheerful smile is always welcome.

Real-time meetings
Each 3rd Tuesday of the month is our Fellowship Assembly, and we often invite interesting speakers or Rotary Leaders for this entertaining, educational fun event. Plan to join us.
Each Thursday Morning from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (Mountain Time) we host a casual FellowSIP Coffee Chat.
Everyone is welcome to attend and we encourage your participation.
Please click our Event Calendar for details and access Link.
The initiative was instigated by Director Ixora, who collaborated with local artist Debi Carson of Art WithOut Limits (AWOL) on the concept. Together, they formulated the idea of creating a relaxing evening while guests explore Rotary's Seven Areas of Focus through trivia, participate in brewery tours, listen to the sounds of reggae music, and get creative in art while tasting local craft beers by Tola Brewery.
An interesting read from Rotary Club of Tortola in District 7020.

Program Donations
Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.
Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.
We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.
Asyouhave not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
