Hummingsong Community Choirs is a women’s choir of over 500 members, based on Sydney’s North Shore and Northern Beaches. It comprises of six smaller choir ‘villages’ within a big friendly and inclusive community, where ‘community’ is the key word. They are welcoming and non-exclusive, with no audition required to join. These amazing women sing together and challenge themselves to create fabulous quality music, performing a diverse range of musical styles. They are women who support each other within their local community, through music, laughter and friendship.
Hummingsong was founded by Anna Humberstone in 2012. Inspired by a love of singing, community, women supporting women, joyous music making, creative and quality teaching along with diverse musical styles, Anna set out to establish her first adult women’s community choir located in Gordon. She was profoundly affected by the power of endless giving and receiving within this community. Her vision is for this experience to be accessible for all women and demand to join has led to growth from that first choir, to the vibrant musical community that is now thriving.
This uplifting choir community has positively impacted the lives of thousands of local women. Countless new connections are forged between mothers, daughters, sisters and grandmothers - all finding their voices together. It is a special place where we witness cross-age mentoring, social therapy, women sharing their celebrations and also sharing their difficulties, where the community will step up with practical support during times of illness or hardship. It is an ever-evolving ecosystem, with a life of its own and it is a joy to be involved in.

September 28. Leadership: Jessi is a girl after my own heart. With 99% of my wardrobe from Value Village (MegaPaca here in Guatemala), buying second-hand is one of the greatest forms of recycling. Friends of mine in Montreal even make it a social outing when I go to visit them.

October 3. The perseverance of hockey player Ryan Straschnitzki is very inspirational. After being very badly injured in the Humbolt bus crash and not able to walk, in spite of this he is determined that he will walk again. The progress he has made is quite remarkable.

As the oldest service club in the world, Rotary club members represent a cross-section of the community's owners, executives, managers, political leaders, and professionals – People who make decisions and influence policy. Club members have many opportunities for humanitarian service, both locally and internationally.

Rotary minute
New members should be inducted with formality to acknowledge the respect of Rotary and its standing in the world.
A suggested or sample script for the induction is shown below.
You have been chosen to membership in our Rotary club because your fellow members believe you to be a leader in your vocation and because you manifest those qualities of head and of heart which fit you to interpret and impart the message of Rotary to those with whom you come in contact.
You are the representative of your vocation in this club and any contribution of an educational value pertaining to that vocation must naturally come to us through you. On the other hand, you become the ambassador from us to your vocation, and it becomes your duty to carry the ideals and principles of service to your work.
We also expect much from you in help and inspiration, which will enable us to be better Rotarians, and with this hope, we most heartily offer you Rotary fellowship.
I wish to impress upon you that you have been admitted not only to our Rotary Club but to a worldwide association; and by virtue of your membership in this club, you will be welcomed into the fellowship of any Rotary club in the world.
The honour and privilege of Rotary membership carries with it duties and obligations. You will be expected to attend the club's meetings regularly, to perform your share of club service, and to place your knowledge and talents at the disposal of the club in its task of carrying the principles of Rotary into the daily life of the community. The community will know and judge Rotary through your embodiment of it in character and service, and we accept you as a member because we believe our principles and organization to be safe in your keeping.
I ask all members to rise. It is now my distinct pleasure, and in the name of our Rotary Club, I now formally admit you to membership in this club and ask that your sponsor affix to your lapel our emblem, the Rotary pin. Fellow Rotarians, I commend to you our newest member, who has been loaned the title of Club Member, and request all of you to welcome him/her warmly to our club and our fellowship.

Program Donations
Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.
Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.
We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.
As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
