Animal morality. I loved the cucumber vs grapes!

The David Bowie singers and dancers were a hoot, and I did not know about Magnetic Hill.
-- Irene Makar, Past Rotarian, Edmonton, District 5370
Morality in the animal world or the result of evolution whereby cooperation is a need for survival.
-- Jean Michel Crepin, E-Club of Canada one, District 5370
What a great meeting, Jan 11-17! From the Magnetic Hill in NB to endangered cranes in Korea to the David Bowie tribute from Young@Heart - all very engaging! I particularly enjoyed speaker Frans deWall's Ted talk on Moral Behaviour in Animals.
-- Sharon Blaker, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Food for thought
A boy’s temper
There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father game him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence.
The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Finally, the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife into a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry. The wound is still there. Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.

Program Donations
Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.
Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.
We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.
As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
