Canadiana

Emmarae Dale has been part of big games her entire life. She knows what it's like to have pregame jitters, both as a fan and as a player.

But nothing could have prepared her for the first time she stepped on the field for the first practice as a member of her hometown Saskatoon Hilltops.

"I was at work and two hours beforehand I was so nervous. This was actually happening. My heart was racing. I was sweating. I had to tell myself to breathe. I knew I was stepping into something big," said the 22-year-old.

Announcements

As we pause for Remembrance Day on November 11, here’s a bit of Canadiana you might find interesting.

If you look at the back right-hand side of a Canadian $10 bill, you will see an old veteran standing at attention near the Ottawa War Memorial. His name is Robert Metcalfe and he died in 2007 at the age of 90.

November is Foundation Month
Why should you support the Rotary Foundation?

When every Rotarian donates to our Rotary Foundation every year, it makes Doing Good in the World possible.

Our Foundation’s Annual Fund provides the funding for local and international grant projects that improve lives around the world. Your contributions help us promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water and sanitation, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and respond to disasters.

Thanks to Rotarians who give every year, we accomplished a lot in 2019-20:

* Rotarians gave $123.6 million to the Annual Fund.
* The Foundation awarded 1,359 global grants.

These life-changing, sustainable projects are possible because of donors like you, who take action and make a personal contribution to the Annual Fund. When every Rotarian gives every year, no challenge is too great for us to make a difference.

Humour

New members' corner

Let's face it - attracting members to join a service organization is not an easy task. In fact, oftentimes, we see that even though the majority of people are aware of Rotary, only a few know what Rotarians actually do. The prospective members that we try and recruit are often our friends, colleagues or family members. These are people that are easy to recruit because you share a personal relationship with them and can easily explain the work of Rotarians to them.

The question then arises, how do we attract those outside of our personal radar to Rotary? How do we attract the younger generation to become Rotarians? Essentially, it is about publicity.

Program Donations

Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
