Inspirational moment

"Sad night last night but today is a brighter day. The ewe (female sheep) on the left lambed a stillborn and we were unable to resuscitate it. She cried most of the night longing for her lamb after we removed it.

The ewe on the right lambed twins last week, though they were very small. It seems that today she has given one of her twins to the grieving mother to raise as her own. This is a photo of them together with their new children."

Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

July 14.  If everyone could grasp that one fact - that the only difference is the amount of melanin in each person's skin!  Unfortunately, factors such as hatred, greed, and power play a big part in the racism issue.
-- Vicki Horsfield, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

July 18.  Very touching presentation about race.
-- Elly Contreras, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Anthony Peterson.  Anthony Peterson's "What I am learning from my white grandchildren - truths about race" is one of the most powerful Ted Talks I have heard. The message is particularly timely.
-- Don Smith, Rotary Club of Bracebridge, District 7010

The article about the film clips found in Dawson City brought back some happy memories of our stay in Dawson City.
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Cheryl Holden.  Cheryl Holden has a very practical understanding of climate change and the effects on people's  health.
-- Larry Reynolds, Rotary Club of Campbell River, District 5020

The Power of Rotary.  Really enjoyed the musical selection "Unchained Melody." This was the first popular song I learned to play on the piano.
-- Lynne Ternosky, Rotary Club of District 6330 Passport

Food for thought

For more information about facial recognition, clickhere

The second video link above is John Oliver.  John Oliver takes a look at facial recognition technology, how it’s used by private companies and law enforcement, and why it can be dangerous.

Still, it’s an excellent video and covers the topic well, but may offend a few; hence, the reason I am supplying only the link, noting that John Oliver is a regular on HBO and a master at satirical comedy.  Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

Program Donations

Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
