The Pingualuit
Crater, which from Inuit translates to “pimple,” is surrounded by the
incredible moon-like landscape of Pingualuit National Park, in
northern Quebec.
This natural
wonder was formed by a meteorite plummeting from space over one and a half million
years ago. It's still considered a young crater by geological standards,
despite being present through two ice ages.
Due to the
explosive impact, the circumference of the lake rises over 500 feet above the
surrounding land. Beyond the crater, the park is extremely flat and regular.
The treeless expanse offers the ideal terrain for hiking and cross-country
skiing.
You can loop the
entire landform on a 12-kilometre trek or view it from one of the lookouts in
the park.

Comments from our guests and members
Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?
Alan
Naparstek. Alan’s presentation showed
that even in big cities, people seek out like-minded people and create
neighborhoods. The shoulder tap story
made think how often we have thoughts pop into our head and don’t act on
them. This format flows very well.
-- Graham Drake, RC
Calgary Heritage Park, District 5360
At the Cancun
Airport, waiting for my flight to Calgary after visiting more than a dozen
Rotary projects in Guatemala. A great experience!
-- Jean-Michel
Crepin
I love the
variety of your programming! I especially enjoyed the inspirational moment of
Shoulder Taps and the story of Hindus creating community. I’ll be looking for
shoulder tap opportunities this coming week!
-- Judy Redpath,
Rotary Club of Herndon, Virginia, District 7610

A submission from Rotarian Vicki
"Occasionally
members mention that the downside of an E-meeting, meeting online, is that we
don't get to see each other face to face. But in our club, when we meet during
our Fellowship Assembly or our Coffee Chat, we feel like long-time friends and
we almost forget that we are not sitting in the same room.
Recently,
Jean-Michel Crepin came to Guatemala to volunteer in our organization, Creating
Opportunities for Guatemalans. Usually when you meet someone in person for the
first time, there is an awkwardness and a necessary time lapse before you feel
like friends. But with our E-Club friends, you know you are with a buddy.
It was a joy to
have Jean-Michel and his wife with us, to work together and to be able to spend
more time talking and sharing ideas.
There was only
one thing. When we are together for FAs or Coffee Chats, we are all sitting
down. When I met up with Jean-Michel here in Guatemala, I was surprised that he
was so TALL!!"

Food for thought
He just graduated from high school, now this teen is running the water plant in North Spirit Lake.
A 19-year-old from North Spirit Lake First
Nation is the key to solving a boil water advisory in place in his
community for nearly as long as he has been alive.
The remote First
Nation, about 800 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario, has been under a
boil water advisory for 14 years.

Program Donations
Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.
Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.
We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.
As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
