Alert Bay is a village on Cormorant Island, in the Regional District of Mount Waddington, British Columbia, Canada. Approximately 1200 to 1500 people live within the village.
Alert Bay is the
oldest community on Vancouver Island. It
was formerly a fishing village and heritage buildings and old village houses on
the waterfront still speak of the early pioneer days where a fish saltery was
located in 1870. The waterfront
boardwalks, ferry dock, and marinas bustle with life, but most vivid today is
the living culture of the ‘Namgis First Nation of the Kwakwaka’wakw.
Alert Bay is
internationally renowned as a centre for First Nation culture.
Alert Bay has
much to offer the outdoor enthusiast.
Cormorant Island is one of the stops and departure points for kayak
tours, whale watching, and fishing in Knight Inlet, Kingcome Inlet, and the
Broughton Archipelago.
The island is a haven for birds, bird watchers, photo buffs, and hikers along the boardwalks and trails throughout the community and ecological park.

Comments from our guests and members
Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?
Derren Brown on
Mentalism and Mind Reading. How did he do that! If he were a snake oil
salesman, he would have convinced us he had the cure for whatever it was that
ailed us. Fantastic and unusual TED talk.
September 9. The clip on the positive effects of
reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone was incredible. Good things come from some very ferocious
animals.
-- Keith Evans,
E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
Nice to see the
Terry Fox video. It is amazing how Terry inspired so many and he started it
with a run across Canada to get donations of one million dollars towards cancer
research. And now to have his
"runs” take place worldwide and total donations reach $750 million. Such
an inspiration!
-- David Werrett,
E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
September 2. Seeing our planet from space and everyone
wanting a picture of their hometown.
This made him the hometown hero, since everyone is happy of their
origin.
-- Alex Jonathan
Twinamatsiko, Rotaract Club of Kampala Muyenga Breeze, District 9211

Program Donations
Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.
Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.
We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.
As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
