It is not enough to be busy; so are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?
If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.
As if you could kill time without injuring eternity.
The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.
The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.
Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.
Happiness is like a butterfly: the more you chase it, the more it will elude you. But if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.
It is never too late to give up your prejudices.
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?
April 03. The Secret life of a landfill makes me think that all that waste could be safely incinerated without emitting anything noxious.
April 16. Rotary and vaccine-derived virus: I was pleased to read that Rotary is supporting the use of inactivated polio vaccine (IPV), which is an injectable vaccine that does not contain live virus and cannot cause vaccine-derived polio.
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
April 18. Loved the African dance video. Something different. The rescue of the orca was amazing and shows British Columbians love for these amazing creatures.
-- Sharon Blaker, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
April 18. What an excellent speaker regarding setting up paying water bills. I loved the effort for the four-way test. Practise, practise, practise.
-- Neil Rogers, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
April 20. The water presentation is something that should make us all think about our regular activities.
-- Angel Francisco Blanco Garcia, E-Club of Canada One District 5370
Environment – Rescue of an Orca/Diversity of African Dance. The rescue of the young female Orca was very interesting. The African dance from different parts of the country was extremely educational.
-- Martin Secker, Rotary Club of Kingston, District 7040
April 20. Enjoyed the African Dance video.
-- Kimberley Dominguez, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Imagine if all the fears imbedded in the 6th IPCC report come true.
Imagine if winter did not come. I have lived this.
I grew up with my father building community ski resorts in Nova Scotia, Canada. I bought a resort called Ski Martock from him in 1979. Ski Martock is a mid-sized community ski resort with the base elevation only 30 feet above sea level. We employed 278 staff, had over 100,000 annual customers and an average winter season of 109 days. Despite our size, we generated several Olympians and had a very strong clientele base.
I sold the resort in 2003. Luckily it was before the warming temperatures had an effect on the fiscal performance. It was a good time to exit. Climate change has already had a huge impact on our family. As we moved from Nova Scotia to Alberta, you can call us climate refugees.
To try to secure a future for our grandchildren and young people across the world, I switched careers to immerse myself in climate solutions. I’m writing to share news of breakthroughs that give me hope.
Do Rotarians receive special business benefits from their Rotary membership? Should Rotarians expect a special discount or some preferential service just because they are dealing with a fellow Rotarian?
The policy, originally approved by the RI Board of Directors in 1933, is that in business and professional relations “a Rotarian should not expect, and far less should he ask for, more consideration or advantages from a fellow Rotarian than the latter would give to any other business or professional associate with whom he has business relations.”
Over 50 years ago, the concept was expressed that “True friends demand nothing of one another, and any abuse of the confidence of friendship for profit is foreign to the spirit of rotary.” On the other hand, if new or increased business comes as the natural result of friendship created in Rotary, it is the same normal development that takes place outside of Rotary as well as inside, so it is not an infringement on the ethics of rotary membership.
It is important to remember that the primary purpose of Rotary membership is to provide each member with a unique opportunity to serve others, and membership is not intended as a means for personal profit or special privileges.
