Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring, and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?
September 26. My mother used to say, "Only believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear." After listening to Johnny Carson's guest, I think the believing what you see should be dropped to about 5%!!" Great guest speaker! -- Vicki Horsfield, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
September 29. Great content! Thank you! -- Doug Dyer, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
Why we all need to start reading aloud to our kids. Keisha Siriboe. Christina read religiously to her sons and knew the importance of doing so at bed time. They were not only provided with the tools for reading, but also memories of those story times. -- Michael Thomas, Rotary Club or Stony Plain, District 5370
October 2. The story of Frank Abagnale and his ability to con people with apparent ease is a lesson in life. His exploits took place 40 or 50 years ago, but the fact that he uses his expertise today to identify con artists shows that the cons are still out there. Their methods may have changed, but they are still operating. -- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
October 3. Another excellent meeting with thought-provoking content. -- Nance Macleod, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
October 3. Excellent speaker. We read to our children as my parents did to us. It works! -- Neil Rogers, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, has awarded its 2022 Grand Prize to Petra Wadström, founder and inventor of the Solvatten portable solar-powered water treatment and heating system.
Kits last 7-10 years and are designed for off-grid communities without other access to safe water. The Swedish award recognizes people who have made groundbreaking discoveries.
“Clean water is crucial for people’s health, opportunities, and quality of life,” KTH wrote in its prize citation. “Petra Wadström is a unique problem solver with a large measure of stubbornness who, through her innovation Solvatten, has changed the lives of many people – particularly women – around the world.”
Through ESRAG's Solar Safe Water Challenge, led by Gunilla Ostberg and Ingrid Hesser of Sweden, Rotarians have provided Solvatten kits to 300 Kenyan households totaling about 1,500 people in just a year and a half, equipping these families to heat and purify water without fuel.
500,000 people around the world now use Solvatten water kits.
Each one can heat and treat up to 40 liters of water a day, saving 6-8 trees and 1-1.5 tons of CO2 emissions a year.
