Greeter this week
Greetings of the Season

December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month

As you know, every month is dedicated to one of the major themes of our Rotary lives; this month the theme is that which RI is perhaps best known for, at least among non-Rotarians - Disease prevention and treatment is one of the Rotary Foundation Areas of Focus
.

And in addition, because the theme for December is Disease Prevention and Treatment

A letter addressed to a London, Ont., mother in 1967 is providing new insight into how a measles vaccination campaign rolled out more than five decades ago in the southwestern Ontario city.

"I found this old letter a while ago in a box of my old report cards and school memorabilia," wrote Debbie Clipperton in a Facebook post.

The letter, addressed to Mrs. Lewis and signed by Douglas M. Cram, M.D., the Director of Medical Services for London's Board of Education at the time, begins, "The programme of 'End Measles' is over. I am sure all of you will agree that the programme was overwhelmingly successful."

Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring, and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

Very interesting interview by (club member) Bryce about a company in Edmonton marketing portable power units which can be recharged from solar panels making them ideal for use in countries with no existing electrical generating plants or limited power supplies.
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

November 2 and September 20. Great content. Loved the CBC good stories.
-- Doug Dyer, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

October 18. Green Energy. So excited to see Bryce as commentator. Even more exciting to see this Alberta company doing such great things. Canada rocks!! Recently, in Quebec, I saw Quebec-manufactured electric buses; and everywhere, there were recharging stations for cars. We now have no excuse not to go totally electric and stop using fossil fuels!
October 24. Great inspirational moment. Always good to be reminded that love is the most important thing in our lives. And I remember that joke from my youth. Luckily, I lived through it!!
-- Vicki Horsfield, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Prostate Cancer Testing. Current research from Canada is always interesting.
-- Lynne Ternosky, Rotary Club of D6330 Passport

October 24. I enjoyed the story about the woman and her mother-in-law. I also really liked Ling Ling.
-- Kimberley Dominguez, Rotary Club of Canmore, District 5360

October 30. Another lively, thought-provoking meeting. Thanks so much!
-- Sharon Blaker, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

November 1. I loved the story of Snuggles.
-- Nance MacLeod, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

November 1. Rotary Foundation means a lot to me. I consistently contribute. The modern-day slavery talk was an eye-opener.
-- Neil Rogers, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Program Donations

Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
