April Focus - Maternal & Child Health

In many parts of the world, mothers risk their lives giving birth and millions of children die each year from treatable, preventable causes.  Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so that they can live longer and grow stronger.

Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring, and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

Earth-friendly Mongolian wisdom. Excellent speaker message!
-- Lynne Ternosky, Rotary Club of D6330 Passport

March 7. Thank you for the video on the Three-Word address. I had heard about it but I didn't know how it worked. I now know my three-word address and have the App on my phone. The TED talk on the danger of a single story by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie really held my attention. What an interesting woman and excellent speaker!
-- David Werrett, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

March 17. Love the 4-way test song! And on March 23, a wonderful TED talk: The creative Brilliance of Dyslexia.
-- Sharon Blaker, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

March 22. I enjoyed the idea of Plogging.
-- Doug Dyer, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

March 22. The Inspirational Moment was very – well, inspiration!! Great talk on Dyslexia. I sent it to my sister and to a good friend. It’s time we recognized what people’s gifts are instead of focusing on what we perceive as their shortcomings!
-- Vicki Horsfield, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

The Creative Brilliance of Dyslexia. Many famous people from Steve Jobs, Einstein, Thomas Edison, and Alexander Graham Bell were all dyslexic. It is studied fact that 40 percent of self-made millionaires have dyslexia. The creative side to dyslexia is truly a gift, not a disability.
-- Michael Thomas, Rotary Club of Stony Plain, District 5370

New members' corner

There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want, and that they grow up in peace.

-- Kofi A. Annan

Creating a world that is truly fit for children does not imply simply the absence of war. It means having the confidence that our children would not die of measles or malaria. It means having access to clean water and proper sanitation. It means having primary schools nearby that educate children, free of charge.

It means changing the world with children, ensuring their right to participate, and that their views are heard and considered. It means building a world fit for children, where every child can grow to adulthood in health, peace, and dignity.

-- Carol Bellamy

Program Donations

Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
