Comments from our guests and members
Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?
First of July. I just “attended” this
week’s Rotary meeting. I am so impressed with the quality of the content.
Our secretary, Tammy Waugh,
has asked that we all try harder to increase our attendance at these meetings –
not only because our attendance records the past year have been lacking but
because of the amount of work that some of our Rotarians are putting into these
meetings.
She’s right – a lot of
thought and effort goes into them…it’s quite obvious. I would – and will –
recommend those meetings for anyone, whether they are in Rotary or not. They
were enlightening, emotional and full of worthwhile information. And certainly
worthy of our support. THANK YOU for your continued
effort.
July 8. I
really enjoyed hearing about Wilton Littlechild. I want to hear more about
special Canadians who affect people in such a positive way.
The 70th anniversary video from the Rotary Club of Campbell River was inspiring. Sometimes we forget how much Rotary does when we all pull together. I applaud their commitment to student exchanges. And good for them for having such a cache of historical photos! Katenya Ntaiya’s presentation was phenomenal. I was close to tears of joy, and frustration, watching her. When I read the comments from past meetings, I regret missing them – so much work has gone into them and the commentators obviously care about providing quality content. And they do.
--Janet Stead, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
TED Speaker – Nora McInerny.
It was a real talk of dealing with grief and helping others deal with
grief. Great meeting!
-- Alysia Colebrooke, New Providence Rotary Club, District 7020
Attended the regular weekly meeting of RECCO (Rotary E-Club
of Canada One) featuring a presentation by Matt Walker “Sleep – Your Super Power.” Fantastic TED talk with useful information
about the importance of sleep mentally and physically. When I was a student, I never pulled an
all-nighter and slept regularly and soundly.
Turns out this was a weapon I did not know I was using to achieve
scholastic success!
-- Keith Evans, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
Sleep is your Super Power.
Yikes! Scary information – but being
informed is key. This talk was very
timely because I am reading a book called “End of Alzheimer’s” by Dale
Bredesen. Throughout the book, he
repeatedly points to sleep deprivation as one of the biggest contributing factors
to Alzheimer’s. There is so much we
cannot control in caring for our health but sleep certainly is one in which we
make a positive change. So tonight, I am
going to bed early!!
--Vicki Horsfield, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

A contribution from Rotarian Judy Brown
- a letter received from Laura, our Project Amigo student
Thank you for all the great support you have given me throughout this school year, it is a pleasure for me to conclude one more year of my high school education and to know that people with a big heart like you gave me all their unconditional support and your signs of affection, I feel very happy to be part of your life and you of mine.
Laura and Rotarian Elly in February this year when many Canadian Rotarians volunteered in Mexico. |
I am already a few days away from completing the fourth semester of high school and I feel very happy because now my results are favorable, nothing like the first partial that was terrible for me. I have not finished my evaluations yet, I need to take the math and ethics and values exam. I had a good grade in English.
I already presented my dance at the "Summer Fest" on Friday, June 7, and it was great for us.
In my holidays I have planned to work, I will also take a break and in my free time when I am very bored and have nothing to do, I will take the opportunity to study a little about topics that I have not understood in some subjects.
Please feel free to forward an approx. 150 - 200 word message or any material suggestions in an e-mail, or in a Word document, along with a JPeg picture or two, to E-Club Administration Chair, Kitty Bucsko.
We'd love to hear from you!
The Rotary E-club of Canada One is excited to announce that all of our attending guests who make a donation to our club in lieu of a meal, fines or happy bucks, will have the opportunity to have their name entered in a quarterly draw in support of the Rotary Foundation.
For more information, please click on the READ MORE link at the top of the weekly meeting.

Sea Container of Food
and Relief Supplies sent to
RC of Chimoio Mozambique
May 14, 2019
It was a relief (no
pun intended) to finally get the sea container loaded May 14. The process was
complicated by the language barrier (Portuguese) and the fact that we have
never loaded a full container of food aid but with some creative thinking by
the loading crew it finally came together.
At the request of our
friends in Mozambique, we agreed to purchase the sea container rather than
rent. This meant that they could transfer the loaded container much further
inland and unload it where the need was greatest – in Chimoio.
Afterwards, the
container will get a new life in another Rotary project. When it arrives near
the end of July, it will benefit the central portion of Mozambique hardest hit
by Cyclone Idai. Here’s what went in:
Funding and support
provided by public donations and the following Rotary Clubs:
- Stratford
Charitable Foundation
- Port
Elgin
- Goderich
- London
- Sarnia
After Hours
- Southampton
- Meaford
- Tara
- Petrolia
We will wait till this
load has been distributed before considering what we can do to further assist
the Rotary Clubs of Mozambique. Thank you to all in the District for your
wonderful support and assistance!
Our next
container of school supplies was loaded in Exeter on July 13.
If you would like to
help, contact Brian Hall at brian.hall@hay.net

Program Donations
Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.
Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.
We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.
As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
