December 4. Very interesting speaker re the Godfather of AI.
December 11. Mental illness. What a wonderful speaker for today’s meeting.
December 18. Again, very good speaker on the definition of wealth!
-- Neil Rogers, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
Unconventional thinking. The Wright brothers, Henry Ford, Nikolai Tesla. Air travel, the mind-numbing assembly line, insanity, and destitution.
Unconventional thinking put man on the moon and developed the V-8 engine. Unconventional thinking has the power to yield tremendous, history-altering results. Yet it is never welcomed by conventional thinkers. It is too far outside their comfort zone. It is beyond their ability to recognize a new, emerging pattern. They cleave unto their existing patterns. They ridicule the car in favour of the horse.
-- Conrad Hall, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
December 18. The message of Peace seems to be even more important in these times of lots of conflict.
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
David McWilliams – The Power of Unconventional Thinking. Food for thought: Mohammed Ali – “All the angels are white, etc., angelfood cake is white, but devil’s food cake is chocolate brown; I defeated all others in the world and won the Olympic gold medal but I can’t eat downtown in a restaurant in my hometown. Something’s wrong.”
I like your meeting format. It is easy to follow.
-- Elizabeth Rhoads, Rotary Club of Wilmington Delaware, District 7630

New members of Rotary – along with more seasoned members – should think of yourselves as ambassadors for peace and embrace the organization's commitment to promoting peace and goodwill in the world.
Understand Rotary's Mission. Rotary International's mission is to promote peace, goodwill, and understanding among people of different backgrounds and cultures.
Participate in Peace Initiatives. Rotary has several peace-related initiatives and programs, such as the Rotary Peace Centers, which offer scholarships for individuals pursuing careers in peace and conflict resolution.
Collaborate on Peace Projects. Rotary clubs often undertake projects that promote peace and address the root causes of conflict, such as poverty, lack of education, and access to clean water.
Educate Yourself. Take the time to educate yourselves about global peace issues, current conflicts, and the role that Rotary plays in addressing these challenges.
Lead by Example. Set a positive example by demonstrating the principles of peace and understanding in your own actions and interactions.
Here are some examples:
1. Peace Fellowships. Rotary Peace Fellowships are a significant initiative that has been successful in promoting peace. Rotary Peace Centers offer scholarships and professional development programs in peace and conflict resolution, and many Rotary Peace Fellows have gone on to make significant contributions to peacebuilding in various parts of the world.
2. Conflict Resolution Workshops. Rotary clubs often organize conflict resolution and mediation workshops in communities affected by conflict. These workshops aim to provide individuals with the skills needed to resolve disputes peacefully and prevent violence.
3. Water and Sanitation Projects. Access to clean water and sanitation is essential for preventing conflicts related to resource scarcity. Many Rotary clubs have funded and implemented water and sanitation projects in communities to reduce tension and promote peaceful coexistence.
4. Education for Peace. Rotary has been involved in initiatives to promote education as a means of preventing conflict and fostering understanding among diverse communities. Projects may include building schools, providing scholarships, or creating educational resources focused on peace and tolerance.
5. International Youth Exchanges. Rotary Youth Exchange programs bring together young people from different countries to foster cross-cultural understanding and peace. These exchanges help build bridges between cultures and promote peaceful relations among future generations.
6. Medical Missions and Healthcare. Providing healthcare services, medical missions, and access to medical facilities can contribute to peace by addressing the health-related causes of conflicts and alleviating suffering in conflict zones.
7. Refugee Support. Many Rotary clubs have been involved in supporting refugees and internally displaced persons by providing humanitarian aid, shelter, education, and vocational training to help them rebuild their lives and communities.
8. Peace Gardens and Monuments. Some Rotary clubs have established peace gardens, monuments, and public art installations as symbols of peace and places for reflection and dialogue.
9. Interfaith Dialogues. Rotary clubs have organized interfaith dialogues and events to promote understanding and tolerance among people of different religions and beliefs.
10. Peacebuilding Grants. Rotary International provides funding through Rotary Foundation grants for local and international projects that aim to address the root causes of conflicts and promote sustainable peace.
It's important to note that Rotary clubs tailor their initiatives to the specific needs of their communities and regions, so the types of peace projects may vary widely from one club to another.
To learn about specific peace projects and initiatives undertaken by Rotary clubs in your area or around the world, you can visit rotary.org, contact your local Rotary club, or explore Rotary publications and news updates for the latest information on their peace-related activities.
Every week we'll have a draw and the lucky person will see their song featured!
