Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring, and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

November 23. Excellent TEDTalk by Hugh Evans, “What does it mean to be a citizen of the world?”
November 25. The TEDTalk on climate change was a really dramatic illustration of what the future may hold for us.
-- David Werrett, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

November 13. Citizen of the World – Something that is in the soul of most Rotarians.
November 20. Extreme weather. Something we are going to have to get used to. But the changes still come as a surprise.
-- Vicki Horsfield, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Announcements

  Rotary's theme for January is

Vocational Service

The Object of Rotary is a philosophical statement of Rotary’s purpose and the responsibilities of Rotarians. The concept of vocational service is rooted in the second object, whgich calls on Rotarians to encourage and foster:

• High ethical standards in business and professions
• The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations
• The dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society

As a Rotarian, how can you put these ideals into action? Consider these suggestions:

• Talk about your profession in your club, and take time to learn about fellow members’ occupations
• Use your skills and expertise to serve a community
• Practice your profession with integrity, and inspire others to behave ethically through your words and actions
• Help young people achieve their career goals
• Guide and encourage others in their professional development

Rotary minute

Members of Rotary E-Club One of Denmark were on the weekend 18. -19. November 2023 visiting The Hague with our local foreign Danish member Ann Wilson , the club's vice president, as host.

The assembly had a total of seven members, four foreign Danes living in as many countries, while three members had made the trip from Denmark, two of them with companions. Cynthia was the group's court photographer and made this video from the first day, which included a guided city walk in the rain and dinner. Sunday was a sacred museum visit, from where pictures will also come.

It was the second club visit abroad for the e-club, and there was an agreement that it can probably become a tradition. In any case, the third club event was agreed to take place in Nice on the weekend 13. -14. April 2024, hosted by our southern French member, Henrik Kohl.

‘The tradition’ was started by our member in Switzerland, Raino Kristian Hansen , who is president-elect by the way and is now going to become the e-club’s first foreign Danish president. Stay tuned for more. YiR

From the president-elect of Rotary E-Club One of Denmark.

We have members living outside of Denmark and we are establishing a tradition to meet in person "where we live".

We have just met up in "Den Haag", the Netherlands and in the Spring of 2024 we will meet up near Nice in France. Several of our members have lived outside of Denmark for 20 years' or more.

We had a good discussion about our mission and we are still looking for the next charitable project, our previous was an App in Greenlandic for a first aid on Greenland (an autonomous island belonging to the Kingdom of Denmark). (To support "Danishness" and international Danes undertaking local charitable work as a part of the IB Diploma programme didn't catch your attention)

Program Donations

Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
