Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring, and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

June 1. Elin Kjos TED talk, “My Life started when they said it was over” is quite a story. What stamina and determination she had to go on when she was told "you have cancer and will lose a lung."
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Betrayal. I enjoyed the overall organization and flow of meeting and the combination of different segments.
-- Mitchell Friedman, Rotary Club of Monterey, District 5230

June 6. Very inspirational speaker! How every day interactions shape your future.
-- Neil Rogers, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Betrayal. Great ideas. Loss of self, loss of trust. State of confusion, state of worthlessness, state of powerlessness. Great talk!
-- Martin Secker, Rotary Club of Kingston, District 7020

June 7. Live life to the fullest.
-- Vicki Horsfield, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

New members' corner

If you’re introducing Rotary to new potential members, they might ask the following questions.

Would you be prepared to answer the questions?

1. What is Rotary International and what is its purpose?
2. How was Rotary International founded and what is its history?
3. What are the main goals and objectives of Rotary International?
4. How does Rotary International contribute to local and global communities?
5. What are the key programs and initiatives of Rotary International?
6. How does Rotary International promote international understanding and peace?

Here are some possible responses to the questions above –

1. Rotary International is a global service organization that brings together professionals and community leaders to provide humanitarian services, promote high ethical standards, and advance goodwill and peace around the world.

2. Rotary International was founded in 1905 by Paul Harris in Chicago, Illinois. It began as a small club and has since grown into a global organization with millions of members in over 200 countries.

3. The main goals of Rotary International include eradicating polio, promoting peace, supporting education and literacy, providing clean water and sanitation, and supporting local communities through various service projects.

4. Rotary International contributes to local and global communities through a wide range of initiatives, including community development projects, scholarships, vocational training, healthcare initiatives, and disaster relief efforts.

5. Some key programs and initiatives of Rotary International include the Rotary Foundation, which funds and supports various humanitarian projects; the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, a partnership to eliminate polio worldwide; and Rotary Youth Exchange, which promotes cultural exchange and understanding among young people from different countries.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
