Comments from our guests and members

Members and guests attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring, and entertaining weekly meetings.

Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you please send us your comments?

How cities are detoxing transportation. It is nice that these people applaud governments in the move to electric battery powered vehicles, but their timelines are unrealistic.

In the case of Britain alone, Michael Kelly, the Emeritus Prince Philip Professor of Technology at the University of Cambridge, says if we replace all of the UK vehicle fleet with EVs, assuming they use the most resource-frugal next-generation batteries, we would need the following materials:

About twice the annual global production of cobalt; Three-quarters of the world’s production lithium carbonate; Nearly the entire world production of neodymium; More than half the world’s production of copper in 2018, plus What may be needed to produce and store all the electricity for these vehicles.
-- David Werrett, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Loved the children’s choir, the Canada tourism film, the Christmas Story, and Past Rotary President talk. I really enjoyed the speaker. He was great!!
-- Diane Ellis, Rotary Club of Saint City, St. Albert, Alberta

Dr. Michael Parkinson, Healthy eating. We can never hear too often mindfulness, plant-based proteins, and exercise, but we must take action as well.
-- Lynne Ternosky, Rotary Club of D6330 Passport

December 20. Past RI President Cliff Dochterman’s presentation was both entertaining and educational. The story of the brick was to the point.
-- Jean Michel Crepin, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370

Speaker Program

Robert Hoge has worked as a journalist, a speechwriter, a science communicator for the CSIRO and a political advisor to the former Queensland Premier and Deputy Premier.

While he never went far with his professional lawn bowls career, Robert did carry the Olympic torch in 2000. He is married and lives in Brisbane with an eleven-year-old daughter who thinks his Olympic torch would make a really great cricket bat.

Four-way Test

To close the meeting, Rotarian Vicki's students in Guatemala recite the Four-Way Test of the things that Rotarians think, say, or do.

Program Donations

Our E-Club is a dynamic club comprised of ordinary working and retired people who acknowledge that Rotarians are people who are generous with their time and their resources.

Our club and the program you have just enjoyed, either as a member or a visitor, is funded only by donations.

We are developing ideas for fundraising with our members who are scattered across Canada, USA, Central America, and Europe, but we do need your help.

As you have not had to buy lunch or travel to attend this program, please make a donation of a minimum of $10.00, considering you're saving in time and cost in appreciation for the experience you have enjoyed.
