7 Steps to Strengthen and Grow Your Rotary Club
Engage the heart. Enrich the club. Expand the impact.
Welcome with Warmth — Not Just a Handshake
Engage the heart. Enrich the club. Expand the impact.
Welcome with Warmth — Not Just a Handshake
First impressions matter. Create a welcoming culture where every guest and new member feels genuinely valued. A personal follow-up call, a handwritten note, or a mentor match can go a long way.
Inspiration: People come to Rotary for service, but they stay for the friendships.
Involve Early and Often
Give new members a purpose right away. Invite them to take part in a service project, speak at a meeting, or help plan an event. Engagement builds belonging.
Tip: Create a “60-Day Rotary Passport” — a checklist of easy, meaningful club activities
to try in their first two months.
Celebrate the Why — Not Just the What
Remind members regularly why their work matters. Share stories of lives changed, water flowing, books opened, and hope restored.
Inspiration: “When we serve with love, every act becomes extraordinary.”
Be Flexible — Rotary Is Evolving
Meet people where they are. Offer hybrid meetings, flexible attendance, and varied projects. Today’s professionals want to serve — but need options that work with their lives.
Spotlight Strengths and Passions
Help each member shine. Ask: “What are you good at? What are you passionate about?” Then build opportunities around those answers.
Idea: Host a “Rotary DNA” night — where members share stories
of what drew them to Rotary and what keeps them here.
Be Bold in Invitation
Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment. Invite someone to an event, project, or social. Let them experience the magic of Rotary.
Inspiration: “You’re not asking them to join a club.
You’re inviting them
to change the world — and be changed by it.”
Nurture Joy and Fellowship
Fun matters. Laughter builds loyalty. Make space for social connection — potlucks, game nights, storytelling circles. People return where they feel joy.
Inspirational moment

June 25. Wow! Weaver birds, building bird condos!
-- Patrick Gibson, E-Club of Canada One, District 5370
June 28. The video about the weaver birds was very interesting. 1,000 strands of grass to build a nest is nothing less than amazing!

Sahliah is 37 years old and married, with one daughter and one son. She runs a business of selling cosmetics for more than a year, and it has been a great contribution to the life of her family, not only for their daily needs, but also for her children’s educational needs.
She has applied for a loan of 2,900,000 Indonesian rupiahs (IDR) from KBMI Baros Branch to buy a smartphone as a tool to support school learning activities and her business.
Her income is not sufficient to make it happen, but she will be able to repay the loan received.
Sahliah is a hardworking mother who always strives for the best for her children to improve their living conditions and provide a bright future for them to pursue their dreams. She is very grateful for the opportunity and wants to thank all the lenders.
Why this loan is special - This loan is special because it helps people invest in assets that will improve their business prospects.

A Tradition in Spain
(Where is Angel??)
Tomatina, Spain’s famous tomato-throwing festival
in Buñol, takes place every last Wednesday of August.
In 2025, the event falls on Wednesday, August 27.
What to Expect & Event Highlights
Origins & Cultural Significance
• The tradition began in 1945, when a spontaneous tomato-throwing brawl turned into an annual festival. (Source)
• Although briefly banned in the 1950s, it returned in 1957 after public protest and has since grown into Spain’s most iconic food fight.
• Since 2002, La Tomatina has been recognized as a Fiesta of International Tourist.
Interest
Event Schedule
• 9 AM: Festivities kick off with breakfast rolls in the town square and the “palo jabón” greasy-pole challenge to grab a hanging ham.
• 11 AM: Once the ham is down, a firecracker signals the start of the tomato fight.
• Noon–1 PM: Three starter pistols/firecrackers fire to start and end the battle—where over 150,000 tomatoes are hurled in just an hour.
(Source)
Important Rules
• Only (pre squashed) tomatoes may be thrown.
• No hard objects, no tearing clothes, and no targeting buildings or people without eye protection.
• Respect security staff instructions and clear off when the final signal sounds.
Size & Tickets
• Attendance is capped at 20,000–22,000 people, each requiring a ticket to manage overcrowding.
• Tickets sell out fast—options often include bus packages from Valencia, Madrid, or Barcelona, sometimes bundled with party access. (Source)
Cleaning Up
• After the fight, streets are cleaned by fire trucks and volunteers. The acidity of tomatoes even leaves surfaces cleaner than before.
Accessibility Note
• Buñol and the Valencian region now offer accessible tourist routes, including one focused on La Tomatina’s history and the town’s rich culture.

Jim Gaffigan
Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It’s almost never for them.
Norm MacDonald
I’m going to get married again because I’m more mature now, and I need some kitchen stuff.
Wendy Liebman
I hate housework. You make the beds, you do the dishes, and six months later, you have to start all over again.
Joan Rivers
My doctor told me that jogging could add years to my life. I think he was right. I feel 10 years older already.
Milton Berle
I’ve had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn’t it.

New members' corner
The Rotary Way
In every town, on every shore,
A call to service rings once more.
Not for glory, not for gain,
But hands that help, and hearts humane.
We gather not in boast or pride,
But with compassion as our guide.
Each meal we serve, each well we build,
Is hope restored, a dream fulfilled.
Rotarians, rise to light the flame—
Let kindness never burn in vain.
In truth, in peace, in work well done,
Together we are many, yet one.
And if you seek a place to start,
To grow your soul, to give your heart,
Step in—this circle has no end.
Be service’s voice. Be someone’s friend.
For in this world that often spins
Too fast for quiet, slow-won wins,
We are the steady, faithful crew—
And there is always room for you.
