Emily Carr: The Painter of the Pacific Northwest
Emily Carr is celebrated as one of Canada's greatest artists, known for her paintings of Indigenous peoples and landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.
A lesser-known aspect of Carr's life is her adventurous spirit and dedication to capturing the essence of British Columbia's wilderness.
In the early 1900s, Carr embarked on several solo journeys into remote Indigenous communities, often traveling by canoe or hiking through dense forests. She faced harsh weather, isolation, and the challenge of gaining the trust of the Indigenous peoples she wished to paint. Carr's passion for her art and her deep respect for nature and Indigenous culture are evident in her vivid, expressive works, which have left an indelible mark on Canadian art history.

Beers Rotarians Enjoy Worldwide (BREW) Fellowship is one of the newest officially recognized Rotary fellowships. The fellowship was created for Rotarians around the world who love to drink and make beer.
BREW founders Moses, Steve, Patrick and Martin BREW was started and organized in 2013 by Past District 5160 Governor Steve Lack, a member of the Rotary Club of Pleasant Hill, California USA; Moses Aryee, Past President of the Rotary Club of Accra-West, Ghana and Past District 5440 Governor Martin Limbird of the Rotary Club of Fort Collins Colorado, USA.
BREW GOALS
The goal of BREW is to create the largest fellowship in Rotary. An international community of Rotarians who share a love of beer. We also strive to support efforts and projects to bring clean water to those in thirst since water is the primary ingredient in beer.
BREW ACTIVITIES
Publish WHAT'S BREWING, our Fellowship newsletter quarterly. This newsletter provides information on a variety of beers around the world. It offers recipes and tips for Home Brewers, keeps members informed of Rotary Club Beer Fests around the globe and activities at the Rotary International Convention.
BREW MEMBERSHIP
We have two classes of membership. There is the annual membership which is $20 per year and a lifetime membership for $100 (one-time payment).
To close the meeting, Rotarian Angel recites the Four-Way Test of the things that Rotarians think, say, or do.

...A submission from Rotarian Vicki
Elvers (baby eels) have become the most valuable fish exported from Canada.
They can be sold for as much as $5,000 per kilogram.
Most Canadian elvers are shipped to Asia, where they are grown to full size for consumption. The demand from Asia, and significant declines in global elver catch, have led to the increase in value of Canadian elvers.
The species was designated as threatened in 2012 by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada. (Source: Word game Canuckle)

The western provinces of Canada are currently facing severe wildfire conditions. The situation is particularly dire in the Town of Jasper, where the fires have forced evacuations and caused significant damage to the community. Bill Given, the Town Manager and a fellow Rotarian is managing these challenges during this critical time.
In response, the Rotary District 5370 Charitable Foundation has established the Jasper Fire Relief Fund. This fund is dedicated to supporting the long-term rebuilding of community programs in Jasper, focusing on areas such as mental health, sports, food supply, and other essential social services.
How you can help:
1. Donate Online: Visit Canada Helps and select “Jasper Fire Relief Fund” in the box underneath the donation amount.
Include your full name, mailing address, and email for a tax receipt.
3. Cheque: Send a cheque made out to “Rotary District Charitable Foundation” to:
Rotary District 5370 Charitable Foundation The Orange Hub – Room Number 438 10045 156 St. NW, Edmonton, AB T5P 2P7
Annotate the cheque with “Jasper Fire Relief Fund” and include your contact details for a receipt.
